Alumni

Welcome back to the School of Physics!

Feryal Özel, Professor and Chair

Dear Alumnus/Alumna,

Welcome to Physics’ web site! You are a member of the elite group of individuals who received a degree in Physics from Georgia Tech.

The School of Physics continues to play a vital role in the institutional development of Georgia Tech. Currently we have strong groups in atomic, molecular and optical physics, condensed matter physics, and nonlinear dynamics. One of our immediate tasks is to continue the growth of the School. Within the next few years, we plan to strengthen existing research groups by hiring faculty members who “define the field.” We will further identify one or two more areas for expansion, including building a biophysics program.

I am committed to increasing our connection with our graduates. Here are a few ways by which you can remain connected with your School —

  • Keep up to date about what is going on at Physics – check the “News and Events” section on our webpage;
  • Read our newsletter – Resonance for news and exciting information about Physics;
  • Visit Georgia Tech’s Alumni Association web site to learn about activities, lectures, professional opportunities, local alumni clubs, and so forth;
  • Visit the School – the faculty members and I are happy to discuss with you what is happening, or can happen, in Physics at Tech;
  • Join our mailing list – we will send out our newsletter as well as occasional announcements for events.

The School is building a solid reputation in science, teaching, and research; and must continue to attract the best and the brightest faculty and students, and to hold our place at the leading edge of discoveries. Private support for the School’s programs and services is essential, and financial support is always welcome. If you already give through the annual Roll Call, please consider designating a portion of your donation to the School of Physics. Also, if you would like to make a contribution, or have an idea for an innovative gift, please write to me at feryal.ozel@gatech.edu.

Thank you for your support. The faculty and I look forward to your continued involvement with the School of Physics.

Sincere regards,

Feryal Özel
