6C10.15 Variable Single Slit/Laser

PURPOSE: To demonstrate diffraction through one slit

DESCRIPTION: This demonstration is particularly nice to show students how varying the slit width affects the diffraction pattern. Basically it is the same as the 6C10.10 (Fixed Single Slit/Laser), but the slit may now be continuously changed from completely opened (quite wide - about 0.5cm) to almost completely closed.

SETUP TIME: Minimal

OTHER NOTES: : Please practice laser safety and make sure the backscatter from the slit (not to mention the primary beam) is directed at the floor and not up or out at students.
