PURPOSE: To demonstrate diffraction through one slit

DESCRIPTION: A single slit is placed before a laser beam. The resulting pattern is displayed on the wall of the lecture hall.

SUGGESTIONS: We have a variety of fixed single slits from which to choose. Take a look through the "Slits" box!

OTHER NOTES: Please practice laser safety and make sure the backscatter from the slit (not to mention the primary beam) is directed at the floor and not up or out at students.
