5K10.25 Neon Lamp Lit with Coil/Magnet

PURPOSE: To demonstrate the effects of an induced current in a wire.

DESCRIPTION: A small neon lamp can be momentarily lit by applying a hand magnet to a coil of wire with many thousands of turns of fine wire, connected to the lamp. An even brighter flash occurs when the magnet is withdrawn.
