PURPOSE: Projectile motion example from modern cinema.

DESCRIPTION: Show film clip from the movie Speed where a city bus jumps a 50 foot gap in the pavement.

SETUP TIME: Cuing movie - about 10 min.

SUGGESTIONS: You are shown the angle (almost flat, but when the bus jumps, it is obviously going off a ramp. A good "guess" is 10 degrees) and the speed of the bus (72 mph) immediately before the bus jumps. Ask your students "Would the bus make it?".

OTHER NOTES: Students really like this example. Tell them that Keanu Reeves is obviously a great physicist because he knows the bus can make the jump (assuming there is at least a 10 degree angle).
