Ask Dr. Davidovic

We encourage students, colleagues, and general audience to ask Dr. Davidovic any question related to the field of Mesoscopic and Nanoscopic Physics. High school students are especially encouraged (note however that I will not be working out homeworks). Also feel free to make comments about our research. Questions / Comments and answers will be posted below.

Q. what is quantum ring & quantum dot, from khosro shakoory.

A. quantum dot is a small piece of metal or semiconductor that exhibits quantized energy levels of the carriers. Typically those levels are seen at low temperatures.

A quantum ring is a small ring of metal or semiconductor where carriers can go around the ring as quantum waves. For example, they can interfere with themselves after passage through a ring.
