Alexei Alexeyevich Abrikosov; graduated Moscow State University in 1948. Postgraduate at the Institute for Physical Problems (IPP), Moscow, USSR, 1948-51. Candidate of Sciences (Ph.D.) at IPP in 1951. Junior, Senior research scientist at IPP 1951-1965. Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (Habilitation) at IPP in 1955. Head of Department of the Theory of Solids at the Landau Institute for Theoretical Physics, Moscow, 1965-1988. Director of the Institute for High Pressure Physics, Troitsk, Moscow District, 1988-1991. Distinguished Argonne Scientist, Argonne National Laboratory, USA, 1991-present time.

Additional teaching jobs: Assistant, Associated, Full Professor of the Moscow State University 1951-1976. Head of the Department for Theoretical Physics, Moscow Institute for Steel and Alloys 1976-1991.
