Transport in a Luttinger

Leonid Glazman
University of Minnesota

The talk reviews transport properties of a one-dimensional electron system. These properties are modified drastically by even a weak electron-electron interaction. The modifications are adequately described by the Luttinger liquid model. Some of the unusual properties of a Luttinger liquid are: the suppression of tunneling conductance, possible charge fractionalization, and an enhanced Coulomb drag effect. Theory and available experimental manifestations of these phenomena are presented in the talk.
