Superdiffusive processes often arise in inhomogeneous environments, where they are subject to external potentials. This is the case e.g. for particle dispersion on rapidly folding heteropolymers. The talk will
give an overview on the occurrence and description of these processes in terms of fractional differential equations and will apply the concept to model the worldwide spreading of SARS and other epidemics.
