Essay grades.

If you are struggling with PHYS 2213 course, you can get some extra help. You can:

• Physics Clinic is not an official part of any course at Georgia Tech. It is just my personal effort to help students who struggle with their course work and cannot get adequate help elswhere.

• COURSE PREREQUISITE: Phys 2212 or equivalent.
  

• TEXT: Physics for Scientists and Engineers by Randall D. Knight, Volumes 3 and 5. The textbook is required to obtain the key for the homework.
  

• LECTURES: Attendance for all lectures is mandatory. If you missed more than six lectures (excused or inexcused), your final grade is subject to one letter grade reduction. Being late or not having working PRS device is considered as absence.

• HOMEWORKS: Homework problems are assigned weekly, through Mastering Physics online system, and are due Fridays by 11:00 PM. In addition, 3-4 essays will be assigned during the term. Essays must be typed and have to be handed in following Monday, before the lecture.

• QUIZZES: Each quiz will be 1 hour in length. You must bring your student ID to all quizzes.

• FINAL EXAMINATION: The final examination will cover comprehensive questions for the semester's work. It is tentatively scheduled for Monday, August 1st from 2:50 - 5:40 PM.

• GRADING:

  3 Quizzes (add two best scores and multiply the sum by 4/3) 400 Homeworks (multiply MP percentage score by 270 and add scores of all 4 essays) 300 Final exam 300 Total 1000

  Letter grades: A 1000-900 B 899-800 C 799-700 D 699-600 F 599-0

  No curve will be applied to the final grades!

Registration for this course takes three steps:

• Register for this course through Oscar. If you have all prerequistes for this course, you already know how to do it.

• Register for Mastering Physics to access your homework assignments.
  • If you have registered for MasteringPhysics in the past, just go to the Mastering Physics page, log in with your old User ID and Password, and use this course ID: MPPELES0002
  • If you have not registered for Mastering Physics previously, go to the Mastering Physics login page. Click on REGISTER button and use the access code, which you got with your textbook, to obtain your Mastering Physics user ID and password. Choose MPPELES0002 as your Course ID, and your nine-digit Georgia Tech ID number for your Student ID. Note that you cannot change your Course ID or Student ID once you have submitted them. Please type very carefully!

• Register your Personal Response System device, a.k.a. clicker. If you don't have a clicker, you can buy one from the bookstore. Go to the PRS registration page, and fill out the online form. Choose class phys2213_peles from the pull-down menu.

The deadline for Oscar registration is Friday, 20 May. The other two steps must be completed by Sunday, 22 May.
