Office Hours: by appointment.

Attention!! No more regular recitation sections will be held. One or more sections will be scheduled before the final exam.

Quizzes:
Text: "Classical Dynamics of Particles and Systems" (5th Edition) by Thornton and Marion
Homework: There will be weekly homework assignments. Assignments will usually be due in class on Wednesdays. The professor's solutions will be made available immediately after class (via a link to this webpage), so that no late homeworks will be accepted.
Quizzes: There will be 3 in-class quizzes. Quizzes will be open-textbook: you can use your textbook but not any other materials such as other books or class notes.
Grading: Final grades will be based on homeworks (20%), quizzes (40%), and the final exam (40%).
Questions About Grading?
From time to time, I expect that some of you will have questions about the grading of your homework or exams. As always, if you have questions, I expect you to ask them. However, since we have such a large class, I need you to follow this procedure:
  1. Attach to your graded assignment a separate page. On this page write your name and describe as clearly as possible your question. It is not necessary to write a long explanation, but it is important that you are specific enough that I can understand your meaning just by reading the note.
  2. Give me the assignment plus the attached note. I will judge the situation myself if I can; otherwise, I will hand it to the grader for a decision.
  3. I will keep the note (so I remember to adjust the grade as needed), and hand back your original paper.
  4. At this point, if you still want to talk about it, you and I can discuss the matter further.
