Lectures will be held three times a week, on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. On Wednesdays I will be available to answer all your questions - either in my office or in the lecture room, depending on demand.
Homework will be administered on the web through WebAssign - more detailed information will be provided at the beginning of the semester. Homework must be turned in at or before the hour indicated, no late homework will be accepted.
Each of the quizzes will consist of up to ten multiple choice questions. These questions will be based on the assigned homework material and problems discussed in class. Specific instructions for taking quizzes will be provided by your instructor during the class that precedes the first quiz. Suspected errors in your quiz grade must be reported to your instructor before the day of the next quiz.
BRING YOUR STUDENT ID CARD TO ALL QUIZZES.
If, at the time of a scheduled quiz, classes are officially suspended, that quiz WILL NOT be given and any arrangements will be announced at the next scheduled class. If classes are officially suspended on the day of a lecture that precedes a scheduled quiz, the quiz period will be used to replace that lecture and special arrangements will be announced at this time.
Absences: We will accept official Ga. Tech Excused Absences and/or arrest records if you are away and the instructor will make some arrangements to deal with any work missed. Other excuses are NOT accepted. There are five periodic quizzes and only the best four will count. If you miss one without an officially excused absence then that will be your low quiz.
Help sessions: The OMED/Physics Help Lab will begin operation for the Fall 2001 term in
room N209 (Howey Physics Building) on Wed. Aug 22; the Help Lab hours will be
Monday - Thursday, 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm to support students in PHYS 2211/2212.
You are strongly advised to deal with problems early and well in advance of quiz dates. TAs and help session personnel will get overwhelmed on the days before quizzes and not be able to give you much attention. You are, of course, encouraged to talk to your instructor who is always willing to assist with
problems.
