Participation Policy Update
Because research and experience has shown that students' performance in intro physics courses is strongly correlated to their participation in lectures, lecture participation in this class will count towards a small percentage (4%) of your final grade. (as stated in the syllabus). Participation is monitored using the PRS system. While the correctness of your responses is not graded (with the exception of Friday PRS quizzes), you ARE expected to participate. If for some reason you are in class but are unable to answer the PRS questions (e.g., you forgot your clicker), make sure to tell your professor right after class, so that your Participation grade does not suffer. No late requests will be accepted. If we haven't heard from you (via PRS or in person) by the time that the professor leaves the room, you will not be given credit for that day.
Participation scores will be calculated in the following way:
100%-90% Participation - "A" Credit - 4%
89%-80% Participation - "B" Credit - 3%
79%-70% Participation - "C" Credit - 2%
69%-60% Participation - "D" Credit - 1%
59%-0% Participation - "F" Credit - 0%
You can check your current participation record on the spreadsheet available on your instructor's lecture notes page using the last 5 digits of your 9 digit GT ID number.

Practice problems for Test 1 (and their solutions) have been posted on the Test Preparation page. These practice problems are taken from tests in this course in previous semesters. They do not represent the exact problems you will be given. Also, the number of practice problems is not necessarily the same number that will be on the test.
